Tom gave an inaugural lecture on 12 December 2019, celebrating his promotion to Professor in 2017. The lecture focused on a reading group Tom ran in 2016 with IDEAL Community Action, a charity in Barton Hill. The group discussed Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘Digging’ and talked about fathers, work and what it means to be a man.
